Piano

The Modern Pop Piano Certification Program is a structured, hands-on course designed to take beginners to confident, performance-ready pianists. Students develop proper posture, hand technique, chord knowledge, rhythm, and coordination by playing real modern pop songs from day one.

The curriculum emphasizes learning through songs, combining chord patterns, arpeggios, syncopation, and improvisation to build musicality, groove, and performance confidence. By the end of the program, students can play complete pop arrangements with both hands, add fills and riffs, perform with backing tracks, and record polished piano performances.

Module 1 — Foundations of Pop Piano

Students establish essential piano fundamentals, including posture, hand position, and finger technique. Basic major and minor chords are introduced along with simple rhythm patterns, combining left-hand root notes and right-hand chords. Students practice playing with a metronome to develop timing and coordination.

Repertoire includes Someone Like You (Adele), Perfect (Ed Sheeran), Stay With Me (Sam Smith), and All of Me (John Legend). By the end of this module, students can play basic chord patterns and simple pop songs with both hands.

Module 2 — Groove & Chord Melody

Students develop left-hand patterns, chord inversions, and rhythm coordination. Broken chords, arpeggios, syncopated patterns, and simple fills allow students to create fuller pop arrangements. Students practice playing along with backing tracks to develop timing and ensemble awareness.

Repertoire includes Shallow (Lady Gaga), A Thousand Years (Christina Perri), Yellow (Coldplay), and Say You Won’t Let Go (James Arthur). By the end of this module, students can perform intermediate pop arrangements with coordinated hands and expressive chord melody.

Module 3 — Performance & Creativity

Students advance to complex chord voicings, rhythmic variations, riffs, and improvisation. Hand independence is refined for full arrangements, including intros and fills, while playing with full backing tracks or bands. Recording techniques and stage preparation are introduced.

Repertoire includes Levitating (Dua Lipa), Watermelon Sugar (Harry Styles), Don’t Start Now (Dua Lipa), and Someone You Loved (Lewis Capaldi). By the end of this module, students are performance-ready pianists capable of playing full pop arrangements and improvising creatively.
