Oriental Oud

The Oriental Oud Certification Program is a structured, hands-on course designed to take beginners to confident, performance-ready oud players. Students develop proper posture, right-hand technique (risha), left-hand finger placement, and mastery of oriental scales (maqamat) while learning catchy melodies, rhythms, and pop/traditional fusion.

The curriculum emphasizes practical playing from day one, combining melodies, ornamentation, tremolo, improvisation, and ensemble skills. Students learn to perform full songs, create original riffs, and develop expressive phrasing. By the end of the program, students are ready to play solo, accompany bands, or record modern oriental arrangements.

Students establish essential oud fundamentals, including posture, holding the instrument, right-hand technique (risha), and basic left-hand placement. Simple oriental scales (maqamat), easy melodies, and basic rhythms like maqsum and baladi are introduced.

By the end of this module, students can play their first simple oriental melodies confidently.

Students develop intermediate technique, including tremolo for smooth melodic lines, left-hand position shifts, ornamentation, and slides. Simple chordal accompaniments and short pop/oriental fusion songs are practiced while maintaining rhythmic consistency with backing tracks.

By the end of this module, students can play expressive, catchy tunes combining traditional and modern styles.

Module 3 — Performance & Creativity

Students focus on advanced tremolo, ornamentation, improvisation, and taqsim (solo sections). Full pop/oriental song arrangements, rhythmic variation, and expressive phrasing are explored, along with playing with bands or backing tracks. Stage preparation and basic recording skills are introduced.

By the end of this module, students are performance-ready oud players capable of soloing and performing modern oriental hits.
